Answered Prayers

Our relationship is personal, kept private.
It's been a while since we spoke one on one,
but I'm in desperate need of help
and have nowhere else to run.
So tired of repeating my old mistakes,
I could use the advice of a friend
who sees me for who I am
so there is no longer a need to pretend.
Kneeling at the end of my bed,
I spoke aloud and bared my soul
and plead for you to remove all that
had been standing in the way of my growth,
happiness and dreams, left unfulfilled.
Palms together, the conversation was sealed with a kiss.
Amen.

The weeks that followed revealed
all that I had chosen to ignore.
This path that I'm on now gets lonely
but I push through with my head held high,
peace in my heart and confidence on my mind
because I've finally taken
a step into
a spotlight turned on especially for me.
The world will now watch me take center stage
as I become all I was destined to be.
