The kids dress up one by one
Play tag ‘round the room two by two
Nurses, postal workers and firefighters
Telling each other what to do

Who else is in charge but
The little drama queen
Whose facial expressions convey
Exactly what she means

“I’m not your best friend!”
They scream at each other
“I want to be the baby!”
Who will be the mother?

I can’t help but laugh
At the theatrics of it all
How loads of personality
Could outpour from people so small

They revealed to me
Much more than I taught
Maybe I’m dramatic for thinking
To them, I’m an after thought
