Natural Remedy

A voice not my own whispers terrible suggestions
"Let's go outside and lounge under the sun!"
"Why would I do that?" my reply a rhetorical one.

Unsure of how long I've been shrouded
in darkness, though my curtains wide open.
Nonstop thinking, my mind clouded.

"Do it for me then you'll see how much better you feel!"
Who would have thought such terrible advice
could change the course of my day? How surreal!

Birds were singin', trees were swingin'.
I people watched, sat under a tree
finally looking forward to what was in store for me.
