Veneration

Living in a city that never sleeps, you can feel it slowly awaken,
buses and cars zoom by, their morning commute has begun.
Rolling out of bed I have the luxury of taking it slow,
not having to hustle and live permanently on the go.

On my altar sits photos of people I truly hold dear.
Seashells, crystals, a blue miniature bear,
candles a lit and a small glass of water
are perfectly positioned amongst other trinkets.

In quiet I sit, giving gratitude and thanks.
Today we share an offering of chocolate,
my ancestors have a sweet tooth,
one of my many inheritances.

A new Spring bouquet given in celebration
helps make this room feel like home.
Their love makes me feel protected and assured.
Mornings are meant to be spent with those you adore.
