My yellow notebook is unlined
I hate feeling constrained
Written in it, all my emotions
Love, sadness and shame
Better than I know myself
A safe place for all my pain
And so I’ll keep writing
Past these thirty days

Found the beauty in
Delivering my words off the page
To you —
Hoping I could inspire
Promise to write a book soon
Get out the hood and retire

From humble beginnings
I’ve got big dreams
And I know they’ll come true
As long as I stay committed
