Reminiscing
Made these mud pies by hand
Dirt and rocks and muck
A couple leaves from assorted trees
We served them up hot
And ready to eat
We made a feast
For the neighborhood kids
Washing it down with
Jugs of sugary blue water
Bought from the store
Of the lady next door —
She had all the goods!
I jumped the night away
With only a single rope
But I could turn double Dutch!
Lightening bugs flew around
Into opened palms, now closed
Tried not to freak out
As one landed on my nose
Went home tired with a full belly
And dirty, smelly clothes
