Summer Rain

All we have is the present
After that — precious memories
Please accept my condolences
Doubtful how much those words mean

I’m offering you a hug
Don’t promise not to cry
Allow me to hold your grief too
I’m sticking by your side

Be as loud or as quiet
As you want, it’s just us
Sharing in life’s tragedies
Thankful it’s me that you trust

We’ve shared in the celebrations
There are many more to come
But this life demands balance
And sadly, what’s done is done

They say you appreciate the Sun
After torrential rain,
Only understand true pleasure
When you’ve gone through life’s pains
