second time's the charm
Wrote a few paragraphs that got deleted. Won't let it deter me...
Will just save more often and try to keep this tight-lipped smile on my face. :)
I'm sixteen issues into Ultimate X-Men (2001), which is one hundred issues total. Planning to stick it out.
Don't think I have a favorite X-Man. Since it came out in the early millenia, they have those Y2K character traits compared to their on-screen selves and many pop-culture references. I'm enjoying it a lot! The Jean Grey, Wolverine and Cyclops love triangle is underway, chile. She gonna pick the bad boy, rebel or the goody-two shoes, leader of the crew? We know she goes with Scott Summers but reading it has me like wow, Scott...you not gonna fight for your lady? Ha. I know before I said I would want to read minds or maybe even move things but know what? I love Rogue's ability to touch someone and use their powers for a bit or Mystique's ability of transformation.
There are consequences to being different, even if you didn't choose to be so. It made me uncomfortable to read. People were throwing things, shooting at them and jeering at them for being mutants, when this was how they were born or who they developed into. How could you hate me for being who I am? I mean, I understand there is a deep fear of the unknown and for humans, having what you feel is a predator but sheesh, we're all just people too at the end of the day. Not saying Magento was right, I'm a Professor X girl all the way, and at the same time, if my people were being eradicated by Sentinels, I would understand his reaction. Doesn't make it right of course! An eye for an eye and all that.
My siblings are over today. We're watching Us by Jordan Peele, one of my favorites. I love spending time with them. I love having my home back to myself. Ha! We went out and had a little BBQ, it was so good. We were just chatting and catching up. They be so hesitant to open up to me. As the oldest sister, I did have a reputation of being a snitch but please! I'm just looking out for you. Though I did learn what things to share and what to keep between us if I wanted to build trust within our relationships and I share some of what I been through. I'm finding out about their relationships. They made fun of me for never having a boyfriend...like whoa! I'm really happy I could get them talking about that kind of stuff, neither of them have before. I'm seeing photos and all. It did dawn on me the gap between us is 14 and 16 years and I've been out living my own little life but so have they. Just always pray to be a safe space for them.
Don't want to do much this weekend besides sleeping, eating and reading. I do have a little cleaning to do but for the most part, resting. Have a few lemon cupcakes to make and then also a new Snickerdoodle cake I want to try to make. A vanilla cake with cinnamon swirl and a brown sugar frosting. Fingers crossed it's yummy and they love this sample.
My hair looked good today and I felt extra pretty.
