The Tooth Fairy
In our house, we still pretend Santa is visiting the night before Christmas, a few years ago we even left cookies out for him. My siblings, 12 & 10, also pretend they don’t see the Amazon deliveries in the days leading up or me playing the “Elf” because Santa hired me to wrap the gifts for him. As long as gifts are under the tree everyone is happy.
The Tooth Fairy, on the other hand, is a little different. In the beginning, they were perfectly fine with a dollar, which was a fair amount. Today my sister lost a tooth and asked for five whole American dollars. $5 USD for a single tooth. I couldn’t believe it and while still in shock she told me the Tooth Fairy hadn’t visited her in the last two years. (In that moment she really pulled on my heart strings —) And after she told me since she has two teeth she’s been holding onto the Tooth Fairy now owes her $20, $5 a tooth plus $5 because she been running late. (— Then quickly brought me back to reality.)
What does she think this so called “Tooth Fairy” is doing with these teeth for her to expect payment plus interest?
Part of me feelings like I should give in and give her the money, considering the Tooth Fairy’s delay, but the other part says I can spend that money on a little something for myself.
To play the Tooth Fairy or not, that is the question…
